A Need to Recharge... Ladies Only

We all have busy lives that are at times stressful. Not to mention the additional stresses of dealing with men ;-)

Well Toronto has the perfect place to unwind either on your own or with your girlfriends, its Body Blitz Spa. Body Blitz is a women's only spa in the heart of downtown Toronto. It features therapeutic waters that ease your mind and body.

The Therapeutic waters circuit includes a 38 ft dead sea salt pool, hot green tea pool, cold plunging pool, aromatherapy steam, and infrared sauna. The circuit dictates how long you should spend in each area in order to maximize the benefits for your body (by no means do you need to follow the suggestion). Find all the various health benefits here.

A visit to Body Blitz will run you $48 wed-mon and $38 on tuesdays. (multi-visit discount cards are available). There is no time limit on your visit (other then the operational hours of the spa of course).

It really is money well spent. The spa also offers a range of traditional spa services such as massages (official receipt available for health insurance). Entrance to the therapeutic waters is included with any spa service booking.

I have to tell you one of my favourite parts...... along the pool area are the most comfortable chaise lounges...best part is they are water proof so you lounge there to take a breather from the circuit either to chat with friends or read a book. Healthy beverages are also available to be ordered pool side.

Once you try body blitz you will wonder how you lived with out it ;-)

Nails Part 2

Well I told you the best place for Bio Gel nails but I have a different recommendation for pedicures. M Lovely Nails is great if you just want a pedicure on your own but definitely doesn't have the room you'd need if you are doing a girls outing.

For a fun group pedicure with your girlfriends I'd suggest Time For Nails on Bay street (just north of the Atrium on Bay). A good friend of mine started taking me here years ago and its still my go to pedicure spot.... especially now that it has been newly renovated.

Don't expect too much in terms of service and pleasantries but don't be mistaken these girls know how to give a proper pedicure. I myself always decline the razor on the heels of my feet but that's a personal preference they will accommodate either way.

If you are going with a group I recommend you call in advance and book an appointment, be sure to specify you would like chairs all together.

Basic Pedicure is $25, French pedicure, $30... and if you are getting ready for a special occasion they will do hand done nail designs for about $5 extra on top of the basic pedicure (fun when about to go on vacation)

Nails Nails Nails

If you are like me and are addicted to the flawless look of bio gel nails then M Lovely Nails near the Yorkville area in Toronto is for you.

M Lovely will do any type of nails you'd like, uv gel, acrylic, bio gel, and good old fashioned manicures. My experience is only with bio gel (specifically the owner is the on site pro), first visit is $50, each subsequent visit is $30 (every 2-3 weeks depending on how fast your nails grow)

What is bio gel? (according to Bio Sculpture Nails website)

"Bio Sculpture Gel is a one component nail treatment that strengthens and promotes the growth of natural nails. Applied onto a prepared nail our product cures under a UVA light, leaving the nail strong but flexible with a natural glossy finish. "

Best Hair Removal (for lack of a classier way to say it)

I first when to Sugar Moon about 3 years ago and I have been hooked ever since. It is not waxing but rather sugaring. For those ladies that go for the whole Brazilian experience, this is by far the best place to go! price is reasonable, process is more comfortable then waxing, and the people are fast and meticulous. Now I'm not going to give away which specific person I go to (I want to be able to still get appointments with her) but by far anyone will give you the most comfortable experience possible.

What is sugaring? (according to the Sugar Moon website)

"Body sugaring is an ancient Egyptian method of hair removal using a 100% natural paste of sugar, lemon and water. Our freehand method is safe and hygienic for all skin types as the sugar paste is never re-used and we will only ever put a clean implement into the jar of paste.
Your technician will apply the sugar paste by hand against your hair growth so that when the hair is removed in a flicking motion it’s pulled out by the follicle in the direction of hair growth. This drastically reduces the occurrence of hair breakage, painful ingrown hairs, and also allows us to remove smaller, harder to grab hairs."
